All of us need a good support system when we begin exercising, and that support can come in many forms and fashions.
Finding a good workout partner is crucial since you will be working out together and can help motivate each other, which is where a lot of your support will come from.
You can also find support from you family, such as your spouse doing things for you to get your day going or saying encouraging things.
Here’s what you should know about finding your support system.
Find A Good Workout Partner
When I have a workout partner, I want them to motivate and encourage me to do my best while I’m training. I want someone there to cheer me on and push me to the limit. My preferred partner is someone I have similar training styles with and can trust to hold me accountable – even when I don’t want to.
Sometimes it’s hard to be a good workout partner because we all have days where we don’t feel motivated, which makes it difficult to motivate anyone else.
One thing I like to think about when I’m feeling that way is to consider my trainee and how I want them to be the best they can be.
When I’m not totally in it, I try to build someone else up, which often helps me feel much more motivated because you can see how happy and encouraged your partner is.
When I see them working hard and hitting new goals, it motivates me to want to do the same. Support comes from this. When I’m not in the right mindset, I still bring them up. When I am in the right mindset, we work harder than we did before and stay focused while always lifting each other up!
Your Significant Other & Family
Another way we can feel supported is through our significant other, family, and friends. Even if they don’t work out with you in the gym, there are still many ways they can show their support for your lifestyle.
Your significant other can help prep meals and help you stay on track with your nutrition. Your family and friends can remind you to get in your daily workout. Your family can also decide to change their eating habits to match yours and you can all become healthier together. This is support!
When your friends tell you how great you are doing staying on track with your workouts and food choices, or even if you hear from random strangers how your lifestyle choices are encouraging them to do the same. This is still support!
There are so many miniscule positive comments or actions people make towards each other that show support and we don’t really see it until we sit back and reflect.
Be A Support System For Others
Be the person that motivates and encourages healthy life choices in the people around you.
Be that support system someone needs to stay on track with their new diet and workout routine – it helps build relationships and they will have your back next time you try something new.
When you hold someone else accountable, they will be doing the same thing for you. Remember to stay positive even on your worst days to always build your workout partners up to keep the cycle of motivation and support going.
